Disquiet Junto Project 0652: By the Tale
Dear Members of the Disquiet Junto,
Thanks, everyone who participated in and discussed last week’s project, the first of our three this year with Musikfestival Bern. There was such a broad collection of explorations of the topic George Lewis put before us. Many thanks. We have two more to go with Musikfestival Bern, one in July and the other in August, all in advance of the early-September start date of the festival this year in Switzerland.
For those in Scotland, it does look like our family plans for a trip there aren’t happening this year, but I trust they will in the future. All’s well — just sorting out a lot of variables as summer has gotten going.
And this week’s project appears below. Thanks, as always, for your generosity with your time, creativity, and curiosity. And if you’re new or just have some questions or thoughts, feel free, certainly, to reach out. My inbox overflows, but I’m keeping it in better shape than I have in the past.
Best from San Francisco,
Marc Weidenbaum

The Assignment: Set a favorite story to music.
Step 1: Choose a favorite short story.
Step 2: Compose a piece of music that follows the arc of the story’s narrative or otherwise conveys something about the story you want to express. You may closely follow plot points, or convey an overall atmosphere, or incorporate related sound effects, or do something else entirely.
Tasks Upon Completion:
Label: Include “disquiet0652” (no spaces/quotes) in the name of your track.
Upload: Post your track to a public account (SoundCloud preferred but by no means required). It’s best to focus on one track, but if you post more than one, clarify which is the “main” rendition.
Share: Post your track and a description/explanation at https://llllllll.co/t/disquiet-junto-project-0652-by-the-tale/
Discuss: Listen to and comment on the other tracks.
Additional Details:
Length: The length is up to you. Your finished recording needn’t last as long to listen to as the story does to read.
