Disquiet Junto Project 0674: Cerberus Sample
Dear Members of the Disquiet Junto,
I take something of an online break at the end of most years, which mostly means getting off social media for a month or so, and curtailing some BBS and email discussion group activity. As a result, I do have a request, which is if you’re active on social media, I’d appreciate your sharing word of this week’s project, and all the projects through, say, January 2, as I won’t be on Bluesky, Mastodon, Instagram, etc. during that time. The hashtag #DisquietJunto can be helpful in this regard.
If you’ve been in or observed the Junto for more than a year, then you may know what’s coming, as the final project of the year (December 26) and the first of the new year (January 2) are the same every year, and have been since the original Disquiet Junto project way back during the first week of January 2012.
All Junto projects involve creative constraints of one sort or another. This week’s is particularly taut in that regard.
Also, if there’s anything in particular you would like to see in the Disquiet Junto in 2025, please let me know.
And thanks, as always, for your generosity with your time, creativity, and curiosity.
Best wishes from a chilly San Francisco,
Marc Weidenbaum

Disquiet Junto Project 0674: Cerberus Sample
The Assignment: Make a song not just with but from just one sample.
Step 1: You’re going to make a song with just one short sample as its entire sonic source material. Select your sample wisely.
Step 2: Make a song in which the sample you selected in Step 1 serves as the raw resource for all the different parts. Use nothing but that sample. Here is one example of a song with four parts: melody, backing chordal material, bass, and beat.
Tasks Upon Completion:
Label: Include “disquiet0674” (no spaces/quotes) in the name of your track.
Upload: Post your track to a public account (SoundCloud preferred but by no means required). It’s best to focus on one track, but if you post more than one, clarify which is the “main” rendition.

Discuss: Listen to and comment on the other tracks.
