Disquiet Junto Project 0686: Catch Your Breath (V2)

Dear Members of the Disquiet Junto,
This email was intended to go out about 15 hours ago, but there was a DNS snafu between my website and Buttondown, and it appears to have been sorted out. If you receive this, that’s an affirmative. :)
I hope this finds you well, or best you can be. I just published the 26th Disquiet Junto Profile, with Chicago-based Coraline Ada Ehmke. I learn so much from every one of these Q&As. So many PhDs and MAs, so many professional practitioners, so many accomplished people in one field trying a creative hand in another — and so many just plain self-described everyday folk out there making out-there stuff. It’s fantastic. If you’re up for participating in a Junto Profile, lemme know. All I ask is that you’ve been a regular (not weekly, just a recognizable presence) participant in the Junto for at least nine months.
This week’s project isn’t the first time we’ve made music that looks to breath for inspiration, but it’s a different take than we’ve done previously.
And that covers it. Thanks, as always, for your generosity with your time, creativity, and curiosity.
Best from San Francisco,
. . .
Disquiet Junto Project 0686: Catch Your Breath
The Assignment: Listen to yourself inhale and exhale; make music from what you sense.
Step 1: Sit for a moment and slow your breath.
Step 2: Continue with Step 1 for a bit longer.
Step 3: Pay attention to your breathing, in and out, in and out. Don’t record yourself. Just listen, and feel.
Step 4: Consider how the process of breathing in and out slowly can lend shape to a piece of music. Again, just do this through personal consideration of the act of breathing. This project isn’t an exercise in audio sampling.
Step 5: Record a piece of music that engages with the ideas that surfaced in Step 4.
