Disquiet Junto Project 0703: That's How You Got Killed Before

The image is a black and white line drawing of a complicated machine from a long time ago, maybe the 1700s, and there are also the name and number of the project

Dear Members of the Disquiet Junto,

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the second Musikfestival Bern project, this past week. There is one more planned in a few weeks. Speaking of the festival, there is a tiny chance I may go to Switzerland for the festival this year. I’ve never been, and the timing could work out well. If I do go, I’ll likely extend the trip, perhaps for a visit to Berlin? We’ll see. If folks are in the area and want to meet up, that would be great. Who knows, maybe we could even have a little Disquiet Junto concert in Berlin. This would be around the first or second week of September.

Thanks to everyone who has gotten in touch about the discussion about possibly developing some platform online for the Disquiet Junto. This topic is very early stages, and the discussion has not begun yet. I owe a lot of people email responses in this regard. This is just planning as a preparedness step, should anything happen to SoundCloud.

And that covers it. Thanks, as always, for your generosity with your time, creativity, and curiosity.

Best from San Francisco,

Marc Weidenbaum

Disquiet Junto Project 0703: That’s How You Got Killed Before
The Assignment: Revisit something that you just couldn’t get to work last time.

Step 1: Think of something difficult you were trying to accomplish, something music-related that you just couldn’t get to work. It may be a piece of software, or a playing technique, or a part of a musical work-in-progress.

Step 2: Block out time and dedicate that time solely to putting a lot of effort into doing what you previously couldn’t. Even if you don’t solve the problem this time around, you will likely make some form of progress.

Step 3: Record something that reflects, expresses, or otherwise involves the effort you expended in Step 2 above.

Tasks Upon Completion:

Label: Include “disquiet0703” (no spaces/quotes) in the name of your track.

Upload: Post your track to a public account (SoundCloud preferred but by no means required). It’s best to focus on one track, but if you post more than one, clarify which is the “main” rendition.
