Disquiet Junto Project 0772: Garden Grow

Dear Members of the Disquiet Junto,
Hello from San Francisco, which is experiencing odd weather. Odder than usual? In this land of microclimates and fall summers, it’s hard to tell.
What I can tell is if I’m talking at length about the weather, that means my brain has already partially entered the hibernation mode that comes at year’s end. By late November I’ll likely disappear from social media for a month or so. We’ll see.
Now, this following message affects the tiniest fraction of Junto members, but unfortunately I have to mention it prominently, so no one can experience what they might otherwise feel is a surprise. As I mentioned last week, there are rules on the Lines message board (aka llllllll.co) regarding AI usage, among other forms of participation. The Disquiet Junto community is a guest of the Lines message board, and I would like for us to remain there as guests in good standing. You don’t have to post to Lines to participate in the Junto, but if you do post to Lines, please follow that site’s guidelines, as you would those of any platform to which you contribute. (While I’m at it: new to the site is a roadmap, should that be of interest.) If someone, such as myself, reaches out privately to you to discuss matters related to these guidelines, please respond. If after repeated attempts you don’t respond, your posts (on Lines, that is) will likely be hidden, at least temporarily, until the situation can be sorted out.
And with that bureaucratic necessity out of the way, thanks to everyone who helped celebrate Steve Reich’s 90th birthday last week. I think we may do one for Don DeLillo’s 90th, which is coming up. If you have a favorite Don DeLillo quote, send it my way. Maybe we’ll use it.
And thanks, as always, for your generosity with your time, creativity, and curiosity.
Best,
Marc Weidenbaum

Disquiet Junto Project 0772: Garden Grow
The Assignment: Tend to your music like Brian Eno might.
Brian Eno has said: “my feeling is that making art can be more usefully thought of as being like gardening: you plant a few seeds and then start watching what happens between them, how they come to life and how they interact.”
There is one step to this project: Record a piece of music that puts that concept into effect.
Tasks Upon Completion:
Label: Include “disquiet0772” (no spaces/quotes) in the name of your track.
Upload: A person participating in the Disquiet Junto should post only one track per weekly project (SoundCloud account preferred but not required). If on occasion you feel inspired to post more than one track (whether to a single account or across multiple accounts), you should clarify which is the “main” rendition for consideration by fellow members and (if on SoundCloud) for inclusion in the SoundCloud playlist.
Share: Post your track and a description/explanation at https://llllllll.co/t/disquiet-junto-project-0772-garden-grow/
Discuss: Listen to and comment on the other tracks.
Additional Details:
Length: The length is up to you. Is your garden wild or controlled?
Deadline: Monday, October 19, 2026, 11:59pm (that is: just before midnight) wherever you are.
About: https://disquiet.com/junto/
Newsletter: https://juntoletter.disquiet.com/
License: It’s preferred (but not required) to set your track as downloadable and allowing for attributed remixing (i.e., an attribution Creative Commons license).
